Starting My Unreal Engine Journey
Diving into Unreal Engine
I’ve embarked on an exciting journey: learning Unreal Engine. It’s a platform I’ve admired for its versatility and power, and now, thanks to School of Motion/Jonathan Winbush’s Unreal Engine for 3D Artists course through School of Motion, I’m diving in headfirst.
Creating My First Scene
So far, I’ve completed my first project: a tropical scene with dynamic camera movement and some environment elements. The process was incredibly rewarding. From setting up the lighting to experimenting with camera animations, each step helped me better understand the potential of Unreal Engine for creating immersive 3D visuals.
The tropical vibe was a perfect starting point—balancing vibrant foliage, reflective water, and atmospheric lighting to create something that felt alive. Watching the scene come together and bringing motion into the environment felt like unlocking a new dimension in my creative toolkit.
What’s Next?
This is just the beginning. I’m excited to dig deeper into Unreal Engine, exploring techniques for more intricate environments, advanced lighting, and integrating interactivity into my work. As a motion designer, I see endless possibilities to blend Unreal Engine with my 3D and 2D skills to create not only animations but also virtual experiences and real-time projects.
Learning Unreal Engine feels like stepping into a world of limitless potential. It’s challenging, but every new skill opens up opportunities to take my designs to the next level.
